About Us
The Brooklyn AIDS Task Force commonly referred to throughout the city as BATF, is the oldest and largest nonprofit HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment service organization in Brooklyn, providing comprehensive HIV/AIDS- related services to underserved racial /ethnic minority communities in the borough. Over the Past 20 years, BATF has engaged over 110,000 individuals and families.
With over sixty well qualified staff who have a wide range of experience, the BATF staff mirror the ethnic and minority communities we serve; 96% of our line staff are African American, Caribbean American or Latino, as well as 67% of our senior staff, and 78% of our board of directors! Our senior administrative staff have been with BATF for an average of 11 years, with Elaine Greeley our Executive Director here from the very beginning serving over 25 years.
In brief BATF provides:
• Comprehensive case management services including housing placement assistance, treatment education and adherence services.
• Education programs specifically targeted at the high risk populations of: adolescents, women, children, families, substance abusers and ex-offenders/incarcerated individuals.
• Community Outreach including Mobile Van services for Rapid HIV Testing, STI Screenings, and Syringe Distribution.
• Food pantry/nutritional counseling initiative.
• Substance Treatment Services including a state licensed Substance Abuse Program and Harm Reduction Services.
• Primary Medical Care.
• Organization/community development programs including funding sources and HIV/AIDS statistical publications.
