In 2004, a total of 33,241 persons received some kind of income support in CD16 which is 38.9% of
the population ranking 17th of the 59 CDs in NYC where the average was 30.8% and for Brooklyn
36.1% (890,278). The teen birth rate was 13.5 per 1,000 live births (down from 14.3 in 2003), which
was 6th in NYC. The average NYC rate was 7.0 and for Brooklyn, 7.2. The infant mortality rate per
1,000 was 10.7 (down from 17.6) ranking 4th in NYC with an average rate of 6.1 compared with 6.6 for
